Below you will find Grand River Kayak’s General Terms and Policies. Please take the time to read these terms and policies, as they will outline our rights and obligations as a service provider, as well as your rights and responsibilities as a customer. Please read all forms carefully, in particular the Waiver Form, as it affects your rights as a participant in any services Grand River Kayak provides.

If you have any difficulties downloading or printing any of these forms, blank copies are available at Grand River Kayak. Please allow sufficient time to fill out the forms prior to the start of your program. Please be courteous to others and plan to start on time.
WASHROOM FACILITIES
Please note that we have “portable” washroom facilities (aka port-a-potty) on site seasonally between May 1st and October 1st. These facilities are clean and well maintained. During the winter months, we do not have washroom facilities available. Should you be visiting between October 1st and May 1st, of if portable washroom facilities are not to your liking, we recommend using an alternative washroom prior to your arrival at Grand River Kayak. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our visitors.
GENERAL POLICIES
Please note that any rental equipment being returned outside of regular business hours is done at YOUR OWN RISK.
Parking is available AT YOUR OWN RISK.
If you are launching your own kayak or canoe, remember that you are responsible for all your own legal safety equipment and Grand River Kayak will not be held responsible for injuries, death or charges laid by the OPP.
If you are providing any gear for your rental ( ie PFD. ) you are required to have the required safety gear as well. A whistle is a legal requirement on a PFD. One will be available to purchase or rent. We no longer loan out whistles.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
All necessary forms must be fully completed and signed, with a deposit/prepayment in order to validate and secure a registration.

Reservation Fees: In order to guarantee your spot in a program a minimum 50% deposit will be taken at the time of booking with the balance due prior to the tour, lesson or rental. Mailed cheques will be accepted but are subject to $25.00 NSF fees and loss of reservation. Visa, Mastercard & American Express are accepted over the phone during regular business hours.
If you cancel your reservation with more than 1 weeks notice, regardless of circumstance, your deposit can be applied to the same reservation for a future date within the current season, depending on availability (no carry forwards to the next year)or a full refund will be issued if we or you can fill your space.
If you cancel your reservation with less than 1 weeks notice but more than 24 hours notice NO refunds will be issued but we will move your reservation in the identical program to a later date in the current season.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or cancel a reservation on a holiday weekend, NO refund will be issued and the deposit is not able to be applied to a later date.
Repeat cancellations will require a non-refundable payment in full to secure a reservation.
If we cancel you will have the option to move your reservation to an alternative date or be issued a full refund in the method paid. Grand River Kayak reserves the right to cancel any program, at any time, due to unsafe weather or insufficient registration. No allowable amount for transportation expenses will be provided. Policies, program and fees can be changed at any time without notice.
Discounts: A $20.00 per person discount will apply to anyone providing their own kayak for Kardio Kayak Classes, full day lessons and multi-day trips. No discounts for guided tours or lessons of 5 hours in length or less..
RENTALS
Specified equipment has been properly fitted and is in good working order. It is the responsibility of all participants to pre-inspect their rental equipment. A fee will be applied towards return of equipment that has been damaged, lost, stolen, misplaced or excessively dirty. A bucket and water will be provided for those wishing not to incur penalty for returned dirty merchandise, otherwise a $10.00 cleaning fee will be applied. For damaged gear a fee schedule is posted in the Grand River Kayak Rental booth indicating the cost or estimate to repair. For lost or stolen gear, a replacement fee will be applied.
****For all rentals a security deposit is required prior to use. A valid driver’s license (of the driver) with a valid credit card or $500 cash will be required as security. No keys will be accepted. Please bring a dry bag or case for your keys.

As all group sizes are limited, this is important to avoid disappointment.
Once space has been confirmed, please download and complete our Registration and Waiver forms. These documents are required for any tour, lesson, or rental we offer. Please take the time to read and understand these forms before you sign them.
