Ask about our custom private tours for bird watching, photography, fishing, or local tours for your group or team. Sunset or sunrise tours (for you early birds) can be arranged for parties as few as two and as many as ten!

We also do “birthday parties”. If you have a cottage at the lake or a house on the river, we can come to you..Otherwise we can host your group at our location for a 90 minute kayak intro including some basic instruction, and paddling time on the river. The birthday boy or girl gets an environmentally friendly “Nalgene” bottle filled with goodies.

MOTHER’S DAY PADDLE - Sunday, May 9

A great opportunity to treat mom to something new and relaxing!

This leisurely paddle is geared towards the beginner paddler looking for an intimate experience with nature. Whether you’re 8 or 80, this tour is ideal for the novice paddler.

The tour starts at Grand River Kayak and heads into the lower Grand River marshes through Sulphur Creek. In this calm, sheltered water there have been many sitings of blue heron families, beaver and otter.  We paddle casually to the dam and return, for a total time of 1.5 to 2 hours depending on nature sitings.

Grand River Kayak Co-owner Tanya, will lead the trip with her eldest daughter in honor of Mother’s day!

Tandem kayak available for children not able to paddle their own boat.

FIREWORKS TOUR: Dunnville Mudcat Festival - Saturday, June 12

Join us for an impressive once a season experience!

This tour starts at Grand River Kayak at approximately 8:30 pm on Saturday, June 12. We will explore the Lower Grand River Marshes and circumvent the island marshes counterclockwise paddling towards the Dunnville Dam in anticipation of the “Mudcat Festival” fireworks at 9:45 pm. This is an amazing opportunity to see the fireworks from a great, unobstructed vantage point on the water.

Space is limited to 10 participants. First come, first served.
Tour must be paid in full at time of booking to guarantee reservation.
In the event of rain or high winds, a full refund will be provided.

Looking for the perfect kayak? Not sure what all the hypes about? Want to try a tour but not sure about getting in a the kayak? Then join us after the Dunnville Mudcat Parade for an afternoon of test paddling, product demos, gear talk and more. Browse our current inventory or look at options for ordering a custom kayak. The afternoon is yours.

FATHER’S DAY PADDLE: Sunday, June 20

Looking for something different to do with your son or daughter for Father’s Day?
Maybe Dad has always wondered what kayaking would be like to try?
Here’s your opportunity to do just that!

Leaving Grand River Kayak, you and your partner will join a small, guided group of paddlers for a “laissez-faire” stroll down Sulphur Creek and into the lower Grand River. The calm, sheltered water here is ideal for novice paddlers looking to get “up close and personal” with nature! This is a great opportunity to see blue heron, beavers and otters. Total trip time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. No experience required! Really!!

Tandem kayak available for children not able to paddle their own boat.

Back by popular demand this year! For those of you who enjoy summer nights and a starry sky, what a great opportunity to try something new. Bring a friend or bring a loved one, this trip will certainly not let you down!

A quiet stroll down Sulphur Creek allows novice paddlers to get a feel for the kayaks. Then we proceed under the bridge and head out towards the Dam to an unobstructed sky.  These Saturday nights are sure to please, with a clear sky and an approaching full moon! Total trip time is approximately 1.5 to 2.0 hours.

Remember an appropriate jacket/sweater and bug spray.
This tour may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

ECO-AWARENESS TOURS

Water IS Life !

Our ECO-Awareness Tour is an-eye opening education into the current environmental crisis being faced by the Grand River Watershed and surrounding lands. Soil erosion, invasive plant species, pollution, agricultural run-off, recreational use and abuse are all factors putting the future of our river at risk.

This 2 hour tour is our chance to toot our own horns about our efforts to help clean up and preserve our water and our natural environment for future generations. It’s a pretty tall order, but it has start somewhere.

KAYAK SURFING

Wanna go surfing dude?

Looking to expand your sea kayaking experience with some rough water paddling?
Or just looking to try something new while having fun? Ever thought about whitewater kayaking?
Then kayak surfing is for YOU!

Kayak Surfing combines the best of sea kayaking with the moving water and thrill of whitewater. When the wind is right and the waves are up on Lake Erie (which is most of the summer, let’s face it) we will teach you the basics of riding a wave in a sea kayak. We’ll also cover safety and rescue techniques for rough water paddling, all in the safety of shallow water, close to shore.

This course includes teaching the wet exit, so prepare to get wet !
