This workshop is offered by appointment, either here at Grand River Kayak, or at Tom’s workshop in Fonthill.
Classes sizes are kept small for maximum attention from the instructor.
Starting with your physical dimensions, your “blank” Western Red Cedar paddle arrives at class with the basic shape cut out. Over the next 4 hours, Tom will guide you through the process of shaping your paddle with nothing but basic hand tools.
You’ll leave class with a finished, rough-sanded Greenland paddle that you can take home and finish however you choose; leave it rough, fine sand to a silky smooth finish, stain, paint, oil, add graphics, whatever your heart desires.
