Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have undoubtedly heard about this new fitness craze that hit the waves last summer. Last year we ran our first season of SUPyoga and boy did we have a blast!
Back by popular demand this season....once again, SUPyoga!
No experience is necessary to participate, so don’t get anxious. As a matter of fact, you will fall off your board and into the water.....at first anyway. And that’s a good thing to get out of the way because once you do, you instantly start to relax and you will see an immediate change in your ability to get into a pose and hold it!
And what better venue than this outdoor yoga studio to help you relax and connect with nature while you work on your flexibility and core strength!
SUP yoga is just like traditional yoga but it’s done using a board on the water instead of a mat in the studio. The paddle is used to help you move around easily and sometimes it's used during class as a prop for stretching and lengthening the spine. Some of the poses that are included in
our classes are sun salutations, standing postures, back bends like cobra and bridge, boat pose, tree pose, warrior 1, 2 & 3, to name a few.
We provide: Stand Up Paddleboard, paddle, leash, PFD
You bring: Clothes suitable for yoga and water immersion, spare set of dry clothes, towel, sunscreen, water for consumption.
Classes can be purchased in any quantity 1, 5, 10 or 15, so join me weekly for the ultimate commitment or buy classes as your schedule allows. Just remember to call and book your specific days once you buy your classes. Space is limited.
Tuesday nights 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, from June 3rd until September 9, 2014
Still unsure? Join us Saturdays in May for a FREE
opportunity to get on a board and see if this class is for you! TRY BEFORE YOU BUY
seminars will be held on May 17th, 24th and 31st from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Try a board, try a boat, try a class!
I have wanted to try the SUP Board for a few years now but I am a very clumsy person who has no
balance. I fall so much that I know how to fall with minimal injury! This and the fact that I could not find anyone close by who gave lessons. So last spring when I saw that Grand River Kayak offering SUP & Yoga classes I was excited to sign up right away! At the beginning of the classes I spent more time in the water than I did on the board!! Through every fall I had Tanya (the Instructor) encouraging me to get back up and try it again!! There was one time I was ready to pack it in and say at least I tried and Tanya gave me that extra encouragement and skills to keep going. By the end of the season Tanya had given me enough skills that I was not falling as much!!!!! It was one of the most fun and exciting things I have done in a long time and I can’t wait to see Tanya and Ed again this summer! Maybe I will try Kayaking and see how that goes.
Thank you for all that you taught me
