ROUGH WATER for BEGINNERS, a.k.a. KAYAK SURFING
Wanna go surfing dude?
Looking to expand your sea kayaking experience with some rough water paddling?
Or just looking to try something new while having fun? (NOW INCLUDES SUP’s, too!)
Ever thought about whitewater kayaking?
Then Rough Water for Beginners is for YOU!
Rough Water for Beginners combines the best of sea kayaking with the moving water and thrill of whitewater. When the wind is right and the waves are up on Lake Erie (which is most of the summer, let’s face it) we will teach you the basics of riding a wave in a sea kayak.
We’ll also cover safety and rescue techniques for rough water paddling, all in the safety of shallow water, close to shore.
This course includes teaching the wet exit, so prepare to get wet !
THIS LESSON IS ENTIRELY WEATHER DEPENDENT !
We do what we can, but we can't control Mother Nature. Although Lake Erie is typically wavy, especially later in the summer, we can't predict what the wind or wave conditions might be like months in advance. Please note that because of this, Rough Water for Beginners is subject to being cancelled, postponed, or rescheduled at our discretion if the conditions are not appropriate for the intended skills to be taught.
NO WIND, NO WAVES, NO SURF!
Learn how to avoid doing this....
Our Paddling Lesson fees always include all of the required equipment and the services of a qualified, professional and friendly instructor. If you wish to provide your own kayak or gear, please discuss this with us in advance. We encourage students to learn using their own equipment, but occasionally your kayak or gear may not be appropriate for the intended lesson.
Please note that we do not provide a discount on any lessons shorter than a full day in length (Paddle Canada lessons) for providing your own gear.
